DOANE TRAIL/ROAD - Length: 2 miles. Elevation Change:
500 ft.
This is a short easy horse trail to access forest service roads,
starting with Doane Road, and other trails near Sunland. The road
goes up from Doane Trail and splits. The right fork connects with
Akens Canyon Trail and the left fork joins Ebby Road and Herreres
Ranch Roads in a three way junction. Part of the Fascination Spring
Trail connects at this junction. The uphill continuation is just
west on Herreres Ranch Road. The beginning of Doane trail requires
crossing Big Tujunga Creek which should not be attempted during
storms or high water.
Trailhead: The trail head is located at the junction of
Big Tujunga Canyon Road and the private continuation of Oro Vista
Road. From this intersection, the nearest canyon across Big Tujunga
Creek is Doane Canyon.
OAK SPRING TRAIL - Elevation Change: 1200 ft.
A pack trail that crosses from Gold Creek, past Oak Spring in
the head waters of Oak Spring Canyon, to the Forest Service road
on Yerba Buena ridge. The trail continues on the south side of
the ridge to Herres Ranch Road.
Trailhead: The trailhead is located one mile up Gold Creek
Road from Little Tujunga Canyon Road. The trailhead is adjacent
to a creek crossing. The upper end of the trail is on the Yerba
Buena Forest Service Road.
