BURMA ROAD - Length: 3 miles. Elevation change: 1200
ft.
A forest service road creating a dramatic cut across a steep mountainside.
It climbs from Little Tujunga Road to Highline Saddle on Mendenhall
Ridge Road.
Trail head: Little Tujunga Canyon Road, a mile south of
Dillon Saddle.
CONDOR PEAK TRAIL - Elevation change: 2700 ft.
This is a long winding trail up from Vogel Flat to Condor Peak
and then onto Iron Mountain and Mendenhall Ridge Road. The trail
passes some nice scenery as it crosses across a narrow ridge line
at the head of two drainages and passes under some cliffs. This
trail can make a long loop with Trail Canyon trail.
Trail head: The trail head is located on Big Tujunga Canyon
Road approximately a mile north of Vogel Flat.
GOLD CANYON TRAIL - Length: 3 miles. Elevation change:
1600 ft.
An poorly maintained pack trail up the side of Gold Canyon to
Yerba Buena Road on Yerba Buena Ridge.
Trail head: Gold Canyon Trail reaches Big Tujunga at the
first bridge from Sunland.
GOLD CREEK ROAD - Length: 10 miles. Elevation change:
1800 ft.
A forest service road that crosses the Yerba Buena Ridge from
Big Tujunga Canyon Road at Trail canyon to Gold Creek on the west.
It Joins with Yerba Buena Trail and Yerba Buena Road along the
top of the ridge.
Trailhead: The trailhead is adjacent to Trail Canyon along
Big Tujunga Canyon Road.
MENDENHALL RIDGE ROAD - Length: 16 miles. Elevation
change: 2900 ft.
A forest service road along Mendenhall Ridge.
Trail head: The western trailhead is located on Little
Tujunga Road on the pass between Little Tujunga Canyon and Sand
Canyon. The eastern trailhead is located on Mount Gleason Road
just west of Mount Gleason Campground.
TRAIL CANYON TRAIL - Length: 6 miles. Elevation change:
3000 ft.
A pleasant foot path up Trail Canyon to a ridgeline between Iron
Mountain and Condor Peak. There is a small waterfall along the
lower portion of the trail. The waterfall can dry up during dry
summers.
Trail head: The trailhead is located at the end of Trail
Canyon Road along Big Tujunga Canyon Road after the first bridge.
UPPER PACOIMA CANYON TRAIL - Length: 8 miles. Elevation
change: 1200 ft.
This is a forest service road through Pacoima Canyon. This canyon
has a remote feel to it.
Trail head: The western end of this trail starts on Mendenhall
Ridge Road (no cars) near the Burma Road (no cars). The eastern
end starts on Santa Clarita Divide Road at the North Fork Saddle.
YERBA BUENA ROAD - Elevation change: 1690 ft.
A Forest Service road along the top of the Yerba Buena Ridge.
It joins Gold Creek Road on the northern end. It joins the Herres
Ranch road on the western end. Herres Ranch Road can be taken
to the east where it joins Oliver Road, Ebby Canyon Road, and
Doane Road.
Trail head: This road is accessed through other roads and
trails including Gold Creek Road, Oak Spring Trail, Gold Canyon
Trail, and Herres Ranch Road.
YERBA BUENA TRAIL - Length: 2 miles. Elevation change:
1500 ft.
A footpath along the Yerba Buena Ridge that connects Mendenhall
Ridge Road with Gold Creek Road.
Trail head: The trailheads are at the Iron Mountain Saddle
along the Mendenhall Ridge Road and the Gold Creek Saddle along
the Gold Creek Road.
