
Runyon Canyon Park
This is an off leash dog park with several trails and a connection
to Wattles Garden park. The Runyon Canyon Road provides a nice
loop hike. There is a short loop near the top entrance. And there
are several steep foot paths, including the connection to Wattles
Garden Park
Trail head: There are two lower entrances: Fuller ave and
Vista Street, both two blocks north of Hollywood Blvd. The upper
entrance is at Mulholland Drive and Desmond Estates Road.
Runyon Canyon Road - Elevation change: 700 ft.
This is an easy dirt road that climbs the Santa Monica Mountains
from Hollywood to Mulholland Drive. It is also in an off leash
dog park. It has an eastern road and an western road for the lower
half of the road. This provides a nice easy loop hike.
Trail head: There are two lower entrances: Fuller ave and
Vista Street, both two blocks north of Hollywood Blvd. The upper
entrance is at Mulholland Drive and Desmond Estates Road.
Wattle Garden Park - Elevation change: 600 ft.
Wattles Garden park has a small pretty shady lawn. From the lawn
area, there are two unmaintained trails, one up the canyon and
the other up the ridge near the entrance. These both connect to
the same trail providing the ability to do a loop. The trail these
connect to goes from the Vista street entrance of Runyon Canyon
Park to an upper entrance on Solar Drive.
Trail head: Corson Ave north of Hollywood Blvd by Corson
Place.
Bantam Path
This is a gentle dirt road overlooking Hollywood. It starts at
a curve of Nichols Canyon Road as the road climbs out of the canyon.
It has a higher entrance on Astral drive. There is also a steep
foot path down the ridge line connecting to another dirt road
that has no other outlet.
Trail head: Nichols Canyon Road (north of Hollywood Blvd)
as the road climbs out of the canyon and Astral Drive south of
Solar Drive..
